Real Post!!!
I realize that i am not young anymore. All my friends are getting engaged and it just made me realize that we are growing up. I never thought it would happen but it did our days of eating lunch at hy-vee and hanging out at snow shack are pretty much over.

One Day

Opening my eyes
looking at the ceiling.
Hands
behind my head.

Random shapes overtaking
the space up above.

The clock dings
“7:00.”
Laughing to myself.
Thinking about little children
everywhere
racing to look under the tree.

Christmas time
was so much funner
when Santa
was real.

Remembering,
reminiscing,
those times
seem so long ago.

One time
after the 4th of July
my walls were covered
in red and green lights.

But now
the day before Christmas,
I’m barely beginning to hum
those almost overrated
Christmas songs.

I once couldn’t wait
for the day I was “grown up.”

Funny how
I’m lying here
wishing if only
just for one day
I could be a kid again.
